Where it is

About two thumb-widths above KI3, on the front border of the Achilles tendon.

Nearby: Achilles and the tibial vessels. Stay on the tendon’s front edge, moderate pressure.

Traditionally said to

Jing-river and metal point of the Kidney. Taught for sweat patterns and for kidney-channel low back or edema language. Not a diuretic you can dose.

What people look up

Acupressure

Press the edge of the tendon for 30–45 seconds.

When not to press: Skip Achilles pain from a tear or a sudden pop. That needs a clinician.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.5–1 cun perpendicular.

Angle

Perpendicular, anterior to the Achilles.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
