Where it is

In the palm, where the tip of the middle finger lands when you make a fist, between the second and third metacarpal bones.

Nearby: Palm muscles. No deep vessels if you stay in the center of the palm.

Traditionally said to

Ying-spring and fire point of the Pericardium. Classically used to clear heart heat and to calm. A simple point to press when the palms feel hot and the mind is busy — as a ritual of settling, not a treatment.

What people look up

Acupressure

Press the palm with the thumb of the other hand for 30–60 seconds. Warm, not sharp.

When not to press: Skip open cuts or a painful Dupuytren-type cord. Don’t grind.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.3–0.5 cun perpendicular.

Angle

Perpendicular, in the palm.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
