Where it is
Two finger-widths lateral to the spine, about level with the tenth thoracic vertebra, just below the liver shu.
Nearby: Same back-shu cautions. Gallbladder is on the right, under the ribs.
Traditionally said to
Back-shu of the Gallbladder. Taught for rib-side discomfort, bitter taste, and indecision in five-element classroom language.
What people look up
Acupressure
Mild, broad pressure, 30 seconds.
When not to press: Severe right-rib pain is not a self-press.
About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.
Licensed practice only
Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture
Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.
Depth
Oblique toward the spine, commonly 0.5–0.8 cun.
Angle
Oblique medial.
Electroacupuncture
Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
