Where it is
On the crown, on the midline. A simple find: fold the ear forward, the high point of the ear points toward the crown line; where that meets the midline is the neighborhood. Or halfway from the hairline to the back hollow of the skull, on the midline.
Nearby: Skull and, in infants, the fontanelle. In adults the bone is closed. Pressure stays on the scalp. Sishencong sits around it.
Traditionally said to
Meeting of the yang channels on the crown. Traditionally said to raise clear yang, lift the spirit, and also to descend excess from the head — both directions appear in textbooks, which is a clue not to over-claim. Student manuals mention a heavy head and poor memory here. That is not a claim about dementia or brain disease. Light contact is the self-care form.
What people look up
Acupressure
Fingertips resting on the crown, almost no pressure, 30–60 seconds. Imagine holding the head, not pushing it.
When not to press: Do not use on an infant’s soft spot. Skip after a head injury. A sudden explosive headache needs emergency care.
About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.
Licensed practice only
Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture
Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.
Depth
Transverse subcutaneously, often 0.5–1 cun. Not into the skull. Contraindicated at an open fontanelle.
Angle
Transverse, usually anterior or posterior along the midline, under the scalp.
Electroacupuncture
Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
