Where it is

On the midline, halfway between the navel and the bottom of the breastbone.

Nearby: Stomach region. The pancreas and vessels are deep. Palm or soft fingers only.

Traditionally said to

Front-mu of the Stomach and the influential point of the fu organs. The central digestion point in most textbooks, paired with ST36 and PC6.

What people look up

Acupressure

Soft fingers or palm, clockwise circles if that feels easy, 45–60 seconds. Stop at sharp pain.

When not to press: Skip after a heavy injury to the abdomen, in late pregnancy unless guided, or when pain is severe, burning, or black stool is part of the story.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 1–1.5 cun perpendicular. Abdominal fat and organs make this a clinic judgment.

Angle

Perpendicular, midline.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
