Where it is
On the midline of the lower abdomen, about four thumb-widths below the navel, just above the pubic bone.
Nearby: Bladder. Classically needled after emptying the bladder. Traditionally avoided in pregnancy. The uterus sits deep in this region.
Traditionally said to
Front-mu of the Bladder, and a meeting of the three leg yin channels. Taught for urinary patterns and, in some manuals, lower-abdomen sexual patterns including erectile difficulty. Not a self-care point in pregnancy, and not a treatment for infection or for ED.
What people look up
Acupressure
If you are not pregnant, a warm palm above the pubic bone for 20–30 seconds is the only version worth doing. No deep poke.
When not to press: Do not use in pregnancy. Urinary pain, blood, or inability to pass urine needs care. Empty bladder before any clinic needle; that warning exists because the bladder can be punctured.
About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.
Licensed practice only
Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture
Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.
Depth
Common textbook range: about 0.5–1 cun perpendicular after urination. Pregnancy contraindication is standard. Not a home needle.
Angle
Perpendicular, on the midline, after the bladder is empty.
Electroacupuncture
Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
