Where it is

On the back of the wrist, little-finger side. Palm down, it hides; turn the palm toward the floor and slightly toward the little finger, and a bony cleft opens.

Nearby: Ulnar styloid. The cleft is small. Don’t grind the bone.

Traditionally said to

Xi-cleft point of Small Intestine. Traditionally a point for acute channel pain and for dim vision in older texts. The eye claim is classical language, not an eye treatment.

What people look up

Acupressure

Find the cleft with the wrist turned, then press gently for 30–45 seconds.

When not to press: Skip if the wrist bone is bruised or recently fractured.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.3–0.5 cun oblique.

Angle

Oblique, proximal, into the cleft.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
