Where it is

On the lower abdomen, about three thumb-widths lateral to Ren3 (which is four thumb-widths below the navel). Both sides. Extra point, often EX-CA1.

Nearby: Uterus and bladder. The name means uterus. Traditionally avoided for self-stimulation in pregnancy.

Traditionally said to

Extra point used in women’s health teaching for uterine patterns and prolapse language. It is not a fertility protocol and not safe self-care in pregnancy.

What people look up

Acupressure

If you are not pregnant, a warm palm over the area is enough to learn the spot, 20–30 seconds. No deep pressure.

When not to press: Do not use in pregnancy. Pelvic pain, bleeding, or a possible pregnancy: clinical care.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Often listed around 0.8–1.2 cun perpendicular after urination. Pregnancy contraindication is standard. Depth varies with the abdominal wall.

Angle

Perpendicular, 3 cun lateral to the midline at the Ren3 level.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
