Where it is

About half a thumb-width lateral to Du14, on both sides, beside the big vertebra at the base of the neck. Extra point.

Nearby: Lung apex. Same region as the upper back-shu cautions.

Traditionally said to

Extra point whose name means “calm wheezing.” Used in clinics as a local adjunct for cough and asthma patterns. It does not replace an inhaler or emergency care for breathlessness.

What people look up

Acupressure

Mild finger pressure on the muscle beside the vertebra, 20–40 seconds. Stop if breathing feels worse.

When not to press: Wheezing that is worsening, blue lips, or trouble speaking: emergency care. Do not delay an inhaler.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Often 0.5–0.8 cun perpendicular or slightly toward the spine. Pneumothorax risk if deep. Clinic only.

Angle

Perpendicular or oblique toward the spine, beside C7.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
