Where it is

On the outer forearm, about two thumb-widths below the elbow crease, in the muscle that stands up when you make a fist. On the line between LI5 and LI11.

Nearby: Extensor muscle. A comfortable, meaty point.

Traditionally said to

Often paired in teaching with ST36, the leg’s “three miles.” Said to regulate qi and blood in the arm and to support the middle. Local for tennis-elbow-type tension.

What people look up

Acupressure

Press the muscle belly for 45–90 seconds while the hand stays loose.

When not to press: Ease off if pain shoots into the hand.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.8–1.5 cun perpendicular.

Angle

Perpendicular, into the muscle.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
