Where it is

On the wrist, thumb side, in the hollow between the two tendons that stand out when you lift the thumb (the anatomical snuffbox).

Nearby: Tendons of the thumb. The radial artery can be felt nearby. Stay in the hollow, light pressure.

Traditionally said to

Jing-river and fire point of Large Intestine. Taught for wrist pain and for heat along the channel toward the face.

What people look up

Acupressure

Light pressure in the hollow while the hand is relaxed, 30–45 seconds.

When not to press: Skip if the wrist is swollen from a fall — that needs ordinary medical care, not a point.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.5–0.8 cun. Charts differ; the tendons and artery are close.

Angle

Perpendicular, in the hollow between tendons.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
