Where it is

In the midline hollow of the chin, just below the lower lip.

Nearby: Mouth and lower teeth. Facial droop that is new is an emergency, not a chin point.

Traditionally said to

End of the Ren vessel on the face in ordinary charts. Local for mouth and salivation patterns, and a meeting with the Du vessel in some descriptions.

What people look up

Acupressure

Light fingertip, 20–30 seconds.

When not to press: Sudden facial weakness: emergency care.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Transverse, often 0.2–0.5 cun. Shallow.

Angle

Transverse, upward toward the lip or along the chin.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
