Where it is

On the cheek, about one finger below the center of the eye, in the hollow of the infraorbital foramen. Look straight ahead and drop a line from the pupil.

Nearby: The eye is immediately above. The infraorbital nerve exits here. This is a face point, not a deep one.

Traditionally said to

Local point for eye redness and facial tension in classical charts. Any vision change belongs with an eye clinician.

What people look up

Acupressure

Pad of a finger, very light, 20–30 seconds. Do not push upward into the eye.

When not to press: Skip eye pain, vision change, or a recent facial injury.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Often charted transverse and shallow, about 0.2–0.3 cun, or up to 0.5 along the skin. Not a deep needle. The eye and the foramen are the risks.

Angle

Transverse, subcutaneously. Never upward into the orbit.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
