Where it is

Behind the earlobe, in the hollow between the jaw and the mastoid bone. It appears when the mouth opens.

Nearby: The ear, the jaw, and the upper neck. Do not press into the ear or straight at the throat.

Traditionally said to

A meeting with the Gallbladder channel in many charts. Taught for ear symptoms, jaw tension, and wind patterns around the face. Anmian sits nearby but is a separate extra point.

What people look up

Acupressure

Mouth soft, fingertip in the hollow, mild pressure for 30–45 seconds.

When not to press: Stop if you feel dizzy or the pressure refers into the throat. Sudden ear symptoms need care.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.5–1 cun perpendicular, directed slightly forward and inward. Not toward the brainstem.

Angle

Perpendicular, toward the opposite eye or slightly anterior in standard teaching — confirm the angle in a manual before clinical use.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
