Where it is
On the thumb, just beside the outer corner of the nail, on the side away from the index finger.
Nearby: Nail and fingertip. There is little tissue here.
Traditionally said to
Jing-well and wood point of the Lung. Classical texts describe it for extreme sore throat and for reviving consciousness. Some old methods prick it to bleed. That is not self-care.
What people look up
Acupressure
A brief, light squeeze beside the nail for 20–30 seconds is the only self-care version. Stop if the nail bed hurts.
When not to press: Do not prick, lance, or bleed this point. Skip if the skin is broken.
About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.
Licensed practice only
Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture
Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.
Depth
Charts often say about 0.1 cun, or a prick to bleed in a clinic. Not a home technique.
Angle
Shallow, perpendicular or oblique, away from the nail bed. Bleeding methods belong in supervised training.
Electroacupuncture
Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
