Where it is

On the wrist crease, thumb side, in the hollow just outside the radial pulse.

Nearby: This is beside the radial artery. Feel the pulse, then move just lateral to it. Never press the artery shut.

Traditionally said to

Yuan-source and shu-stream point of the Lung, and the influential point of the vessels. Traditionally said to tonify lung qi and support the pulse as a teaching idea.

What people look up

Acupressure

Very light touch in the hollow beside the pulse for 30–60 seconds. This is not a deep point.

When not to press: Do not press if you cannot clearly stay off the artery, or if the wrist is injured.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.2–0.3 cun, shallow. The radial artery is immediately medial.

Angle

Perpendicular and shallow, avoiding the artery.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
