Traditional uses

Traditionally fossil bone, calcined or raw depending on the text. Heavy substances are said to anchor yang and calm fright, palpitations, and a floating feeling. Modern supply, ethics, and heavy-metal contamination are real issues. It is a historical category to understand, not a product to hunt.

Common pairings

  • Suan Zao Ren 酸枣仁

One anchors, one nourishes. A settling pair in spirit formulas.

  • Yuan Zhi 远志

One anchors, one connects. Oyster shell is the other classic heavy pair and is not in this atlas yet.

Cautions

Not for self-dosing. Do not buy unidentified bone powders. Contamination and endangered-species rules both matter. Care with constipation and in pregnancy.
