Where it is

Beside the nose, in the groove at the midpoint of the nostril’s outer edge.

Nearby: The eye is above and the nasal cartilage is medial. Stay in the groove. Do not push into the nostril.

Traditionally said to

End of the Large Intestine channel, meeting the Stomach channel in many charts. The usual teaching point for a blocked nose.

What people look up

Acupressure

Small circles with a fingertip in the groove for 30–45 seconds. Gentle.

When not to press: Do not press into the eye, the septum, or broken skin. Skip if sinus pain is severe or one-sided with fever.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Common textbook range: about 0.3–0.5 cun, transverse toward the bridge or along the groove. Not deep.

Angle

Transverse, subcutaneously, toward the nose or slightly upward along the groove.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
