Where it is

On the upper outer chest, in the hollow just under the collarbone, about a hand’s width from the midline and slightly out toward the shoulder.

Nearby: The lung sits under the ribs here. Deep pressure or any needle aimed inward can injure the lung.

Traditionally said to

Front-mu point of the Lung. Traditionally said to descend lung qi and ease chest fullness. That is pattern language, not a promise about breathing disease.

What people look up

Acupressure

Use a flat finger and press slightly outward and down, not straight into the chest, for about 30–60 seconds.

When not to press: Skip if you are coughing blood, short of breath, or the spot is sharply tender. Do not press hard.

About 30–90 seconds is the usual window, unless the step above is shorter. Stop if pain, dizziness, or anything unusual shows up.

Licensed practice only

Needle depth, angle, electroacupuncture

Textbook language for students. Not instructions. A cun is a body-inch on that person, not a ruler inch. Do not needle yourself.

Depth

Often charted as a shallow oblique insertion, about 0.5–0.8 cun, aimed outward. Pneumothorax is a known risk if the needle goes too deep.

Angle

Oblique or transverse, lateral — never straight down into the rib cage.

Electroacupuncture

Introductory charts rarely assign a standard electroacupuncture setting here. Clinics that use current choose frequency and intensity for that person. No milliamp figure is given, because copying one would be misleading.
